Boots UK Limited[1] (formerly Boots the Chemists),[2] trading as Boots, is a British health and beauty retailer and pharmacy chain in the United Kingdom and other countries and territories including Ireland, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands and Thailand.
The parent company,[3] The Boots Company plc, merged with Alliance UniChem in 2006 to form Alliance Boots.[4] In 2007, Alliance Boots was bought by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Stefano Pessina, taking the company private, and moving its headquarters to Switzerland, making it the first-ever FTSE 100 company to be bought by a private equity firm.[5] In 2012, Walgreens bought a 45% stake in Alliance Boots, with the option to buy the rest within three years. It exercised this option in 2014, and as a result Boots became a subsidiary of the new company, Walgreens Boots Alliance, on 31 December 2014.[6]
Boots is one of the largest retailers in the UK and Ireland, both in terms of revenue and the number of shops. It has 2,500 shops across the United Kingdom and Ireland ranging from local pharmacies to large health and beauty shops.[7] Its shops are primarily located on the high streets and in shopping centres. It sells many health and beauty products, and also provides optician and hearing care services within shops and as standalone practices. Boots also operates a retail website and since 1997 it runs a loyalty card programme called the Boots Advantage Card.[citation needed]
One of the first stages of the recruitment process is filling in the application form on Boots Careers website.
The online application form is usually presented as a questionnaire with the option of importing data from a LinkedIn or CV file.
The applicant is required to provide information about work experience, education, skills and other necessary details.
There may be questions both about job preferences (e.g. desired type of employment, country and city of residence) and more personal questions (e.g. race and ethnicity, religion, disability)
The next stage of the Boots recruitment process is an online assessment. The candidate will be sent an email invitation to complete Boots tests.
Boots uses different types of recruitment tests to assess candidates and their suitability for the position they are applying for.
Candidates are most often asked to complete the following tests:
Numerical reasoning tests are standardised psychometric assessment tools that help Boots determine a candidate's ability to work with numbers and graphs, make good decisions and draw conclusions based on numerical or statistical data. The tests simulate the work environment and goals of a prospective employee. Try our Free sample Numerical reasoning test.
Verbal reasoning tests allow Boots to determine a candidate's ability to perceive and analyse verbal information and to draw conclusions. Free sample Verbal tests are available to practice here and here.
Logical (inc. Diagrammatic and Inductive ) reasoning tests are designed to assess the candidate's ability to work with abstract information. Boots Logical assessment may consist of special diagrams, geometric shapes and other lined-up images, where a candidate has to continue the row in a logically correct way. Here you can practice a Free sample Logical test, a Free sample Diagrammatic test, and a Free sample Inductive test.
Situational judgement tests consist of short simulated scenarios that define a working style and assess specific tasks in a working environment. Boots Situational tests are used to assess applicants' competencies, communication skills, motivation, and preferred styles of problem-solving. Try our Free sample Situational judgement test before taking the real one.
Mechanical reasoning tests are designed to assess candidates' critical and abstract thinking skills important for engineering and science-related positions at Boots. Free sample Mechanical test.
Successful candidates are invited for a 15-20 min. phone call.
Soft skills are usually assessed during this call by the Boots recruiter.
In some cases, Boots hiring manager may invite you for a video interview (most commonly conducted with HireVue.) For software engineering positions, candidates may be asked to complete a coding challenge (problems on algorithms + take-home challenges.)
Successful candidates are invited to visit the nearest Boots headquarters or office.
Candidates will have a chance to personally meet the hiring manager, team leaders and seniors during the assessment day.
Boots may organise a group exercise with candidates as part of the hiring procedure.
The final stage of the recruitment process.
The candidate will have a chance to meet the hiring manager, department director and/or division lead.
Normally, there is no assessment at this stage.
Candidates are mostly expected to demonstrate soft skills and a desire to join Boots.
I want to recommend Aptitude Tests as one of the best sources for graduate assessment preparation. In fact, the real tests were easier than the ones I practiced here. The explanations also helped me to understand where and why I did mistakes. Thank you, Aptitude Tests!

Very Good! Although some numerical questions were a bit complicated. Had to practice for a few days to complete everything.

Aptitude Tests let me prepare for the tests at Lufthansa. I used mostly logical and numerical tests, but am quite confident other tests are also very helpful in practice. Great value for money.

I practiced situational tests to prepare for AECOM application. It's a great website, if you're limited in time. It would also be fantastic if you had offline mode to practice without interrnet.
